Tip Top Claim in Governor Basin

Last winter TLR was offered the donation of fee title to a patented mining claim in Governor Basin named the Tip Top.  This summer TLR Board Member Steve Boyle applied to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment for an environmental assessment CDPHE calls a “Targeted Brownfields Assessment, or TBA for short.  When word came this past September that CDPHE’s Mark Rudolph was heading our way to visit the claim  to complete the field work portion of the TBA, Steve and fellow TLR’ Board Member Mike Nadiak  four-wheeled up to Governor Basin and utilized the latest in GPS technology to locate and mark the corners of the property.

Steve’s report was concise: “On September 9  Mike Nadiak and I visited the Tip Top Claim in Governor Basin.  We used Ouray County GIS parcel data accessed in the Gaia mapping app on my smartphone to locate and mark all of the property corners.  There are 7 corners, because the parcel is divided into 2 halves by an overlying more senior mining claim (see attached map).

We marked each corner with a 4′ long metal stake and orange flagging tape, and we piled rocks at the base of each stake. Photos below.
